I worked at Churchill Downs for over 5 years with a fantastic group called the Twin Spires Club.
It was a "club" that provided cards with which you could accumulate points and purchase items with said points when you bet. They ranged from regular cards to Platinum.
Stuff like programs and golf balls and tee-shirts and umbrellas...
Well I recently found out that the club is being discontinued and made into something called "Twin Spires Elite" for patrons betting a minimun(?)(!) of $25,000 a year.
Nothing for people betting under $25,000.
What about the $2.00 bettors? They are what made Churchill what it is today.
The times they are a-changing...for the worst...
