President Obama reported the other night that the fighting troops have left Iraq. The U.S. "only" has 50,000 "peace-keeping" troops still there (til the end of next year.)
What he's telling us is that the war in Iraq is over.
Hooray!?!
Now I am excited about ending a war that I said we never should have been involved with in the FIRST place (Thanks to Bush) I can't get totally at ease until everyone is home...the 50,000 troops, and the soldiers at war in Afghanistan...everyone!
World War 1 and II were necessary...the Vietnam War and Iraq "conflicts" were not.
Reminds me of a song in the early 70s by Edwin Starr, "War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!..."
Say it again, now.
