Back in the day, I was the "Party Animal" for a local weekly newspaper.
"The Louisville Defender."
I would go to local nightclubs and review them. This was back in the 80's when things were cooking on the night club scene.
I would go to places like Joe's Palm Room, Club Little Egypt, Spooky's, Club Elizabethan ( where I had my own personal table) and the 537 Club.
I loved the 537...it was ran by the late great Willie Bright, a former Alderman and Metro Councilman for the City of Louisville. I also adored the Elizabethan and Zena's and City Lights and Angel's...
I met some pretty incredible people as well..Tanita Gaines, a fantastic singer..Jerry Green (I did the first local interview with him).
My good friend, the late great Greg Page would accompany me on occasion even after he became Heavyweight Champ of the World.
Good times...
The times were so good, I think I will continue this entry tomorrow.
